Had a wander over to Duncansby this afternoon, first time i have been there for photo's. I reckon to get the 'classic' view i need to go early in the day rather than shoot into the sun, but i like this shot i got as i walked along the cliff top southwards and past the stacks then looked back. Shan't do that again in a hurry though, my knees are killing me and i gotta go to work now lol

Tugmistress,
That's worked really well, you have caught the textures and colours in the rock really well.

Lovely pic - I've not been to Duncansby yet, it's on my list of places to explore.

Lovely photo Tugmistress. I really like the colours in these cliffs. Last time I was there was quite a while ago. It was early in the morning and the lighting of the cliffs was beautiful. Pity I can't find where I've stored the photos I took:mad:.

I agree! That's one of the best pics I've seen of the Duncansby Stacks, Tugmistress! Your aching knees were not in vain!

Here they are from a different angle (down on the beach area). Have to admit this climb down is not for the faint hearted (and I too had wobbly knees on the climb back up!!)

Deemac - amazing b/w pic! Did anyone notice, about two thirds from the left, the image of a woman's face in the rock - just caught my eye!

I like your version too, Deemac. It looks very dramatic in black and white, and the dark clouds add a sense of foreboding.

Deemac,
Great choice of viewpoint and lovely black & white processing.

grumpyhippo,
Two excellent photographs, I think I prefer the view looking back to the classic view.

Thanks folks, glad you like my different treatment of this fabulous location. Good to see different perspectives of the same location.

I feel it is probably at its best very early in the morning to get the best light on the cliffs and so far I've just not been that dedicated enough to capture this. Both my previous visits the light was just too bright, the sky flat (yes, I did a sky replacement on my beach view B/W image) and the cliffs in shadow.

Grumpyhippo, love your 'classic' view (first image).
