Since i turned of age I paid NI
Then at eighteen I paid income tax.
I save, I pay tax on interest
I buy I pay value added tax

I drive to work I pay both VAT and duty
I pay a road tax to use the road
VAT and duty on my boat is a beauty
I sell I pay corporation tax

At home I pay tax on my fuel to stay warm
I pay council tax on my house
I watch telly I知 taxed on the licence
I知 thinking of charging rent to the mouse

The government want a 66% pay rise
I think they池e taking the pish
Next they値l be taxing my thoughts
And when I知 dead they値l tax my inheritance :(

It's true! I'm sure that if you sat and calculated how much goes out in these various taxes in a year compared with what's earned, what would the equivalent Personal Tax be? 50% of the gross amount? I dunno!

Being self-employed my figures wouldn't really be indicative of the average worker, so anyone want to try it?

I heard it was more like 80%

Aye, I've been pretty dispondent about politicians and political views for quite a while. I appreciate that taxes are a necessity but what do they get spent on? Beauracrats, nepititstic politicians, parasites that cannot or will not look for work and pay their own way. I have no issue with someone needing a dig out if bad luck befalls them. But it seems like its now a way of life to sponge off society. Who's the idiots here. Me or them. I reckon me, I'm the one paying for them. I would n't object if I was getting "value for money". I think it would depress me to consider just how high a percentage of my wage goes to forms of tax.

Choosing political parties is like splitting hairs. This government is on its way out and doesn't care. It'll be remembered for taxation, fuel costs, wars etc, the same way the previous party in power was remembered for the poll tax. Where's the choice. There isn't one, other than the more extreme or radical parties who do not give me the confidence of being able to run a country.

I could always emigrate I suppose, but I've worked abroad and the political and social disease has spread there as well.

Aye - they spend OUR money on projects that end up costing TEN times the estimates and if you dig around I wouldnt be surprised if the politicians had links to the builders!!! Everything about politics stinks...I dont think it would make a difference if the Tories got back in...New Labour? What happened to OLD labour??

Grrrr
