Copying and Pasting text from PDF files

Does anyone know how to unlock the copying a pasting feature of pdf files?

Buying adobe acrobat but I am sure someone will know of a shareware solution.

Use Adobe Acrobat Reader 7.0 (free download***) to view your pdf files and then use the SELECT tool to copy and paste required text.

Thanks for the advice but I think I know why I can't copy and paste, at least on the pdf file that I am using. It has been password protected by the author so as to prevent copying text into another program. I've never seen that before.

The encryption on PDF's is easily cracked. From memory they used to use ROT13 encryption (which was around in the days when I started in PC's!). While I'm not advocating you decrypt it (as there may be licence or copyright implications), encrypting something with such poor encryption is a pointless waste of time.
