That's what I thought.

By the way, can anyone tell me what that evil grassy thing is on the right of the pic and how do I get rid of it?

These are rushes which grow in abundance on marshy ground. They are hollow reeds and can be used for making seating for chairs and were used as thatch on roofs in the past.

They are very difficult to get rid of; maybe put in some drainage after ploughing them into the ground?

Leave it, its good habitat for nature, or get a goat.

PS can I have a goat too!

Tussock, now there's another good word. What's a tuffet? Is it the same as or similar to a tussock? Yes, I know I could look it up, but it's more fun to ask you lot. :)
The plan for the garden now is to mow part of it and leave the rest, hopefully it'll attract wildlife (knowing my luck, that'll just be rats as big as labradors)
We've got a spring in the garden, so it's always boggy. I've been trying to dig out a pond, but I haven't got too far because of the frogs. I don't want to disturb them.

You are right of course; it is a tussock of rushes and there's a tussock of grass beside it and tussags o' gress (for us Caithnnessians) everywhere!:)
