In a French lesson at High School.

My O level German language class got parked in the back of their Higher French class, due to teacher absences.

The battleaxe teacher in charge was wearing the most absurd green shoes and our eyes met in mutual amusement.

I think we got sent to the hinterlands for it........ together.:D

Had they had no sense???

Thanks Jean!

It was around one a.m. I was listening to some Piero Umiliani, minding my own business, and there was a knock at the door. She said she had come to fix the washing machine, which was odd as I didn't have one.

The rest, as they say, is mystery.

I had seen him around the high school, but never really spoken to him.
One night i was at the Music-Link-Media youth club in Wick, we got dragged onto the stage by the respective friends to sing "Sweet Child of Mine", and had to share a mic.
I'd never heard a guy who could sing like that before!
Started speaking to him after we came off the stage, invited him to my 16th birthday party at my house a couple of weeks later, and he still hasn't left!
Been a year and a half now, and I still shiver when I hear him singing.

Well Rie... I was on stage doing panto and the OH was in the audience... I called her a peasant (as part of the act) some time later, an employee brought his cousin out to a party... and it was the peasant.... we laughed so much everything fell into place... the following year we were both doing pantomine... our daily routines often end up as panto acts.... Oh Yes They Do!

Fell out of the 'Mighty Fine' pub in Portsmouth as drunk as a monkey, tripped, shot across the pavement and headbutted the bus stop post. She was waiting for the bus and began to edge slowly away from me whilst giving me a look of pure disgust.

Quick as a flash, I asked her if she fancied going on to a nightclub with me. Bizarrely, she agreed. I then scrounged a fiver off her to take her there!

That was back in 1981, we've been together ever since.

But she's never got her fiver back..........as she keeps reminding me:roll:.

In true Caithness tradition I met my OH at a dance in Scotscalder hall, at first I was n't chuffed about going to a dance in the sticks, but Bower, being the venue of choice for anyone wanting to be "seen " in the right places, having been cancelled at short notice, only left Scotscalder in the running for entertainment ! 34 years on - it was a wise move ;):)

No doubt she does.

See, that's the problem. The website promised 'a quiet, honourable, hard-working and utterly subservient young wife of your choice, at a very competitive price'.

Nowhere did it state that she would have a mind of her own...

Word of warning to consumers: Always read the small print!

My husband and I had our wedding reception in the Viewfirth Barn, and wedding dance in the Big Hall. We had a disco instead of a band, and the DJ was John French, who was very popular at the time.

Before we were married, hubby and I had bumped into each other at a few dances. Then some mutual friends invited us both over for dinner at the same time, and we really hit it off that night. We started dating right after that, and we've been married for over 31 years now!

My now hubby had been working in the office I was in. My boss had told him not to speak to any staff as he was regarded as an office visitor. I had clocked him and thought he was kinda cute. It was a colleagues birthday bash and my then boyfriend had flu. Hubby had been invited so we started chatting and flirting. I dumped my ex a couple of weeks later and asked hubby out...that was 9 years and one baby ago. No regrets.

Probably met Mr A in the least romantic way ever...

I was getting on a bus at Church Street in Inverness somewhere over 2 years ago. He was there... As he was, same time every day. Started talking to him... Was getting on the last bus home on a Friday night on Union Street and with the alcohol that I'd consumed I musta given him my number by mistake lol.

Yes, he was the bus driver... and he still is one :s - his reasons for not leaving Stagecoach dispite the horrible hours and bad pay, 'It's where I met you.' bless

Dancing at the Caley Hotel in Inverness circa 1969........There was a 15 year age gap so in those days it was considered inappropriate, plus the fact he had a "stalker" who announced their engagement and I didn`t hang about to find out if it was true or not, so we went our separate ways.

Met again 10 years ago following a bereavement is his family and decided to give it a second chance......Married almost nine years now.......well worth the wait in my opinion.

"Sometimes you have to kiss a lot of ugly toads before you find your handsome prince"

Our favourite tune way back then was Anne Murray`s "Could I have this dance for the rest of my life".

I just fell off the bar stool and there she was on the floor. :D

Seriously, we met at Secondary school when we were both 12 and were "winching" off and on for a few years until she went to work in Canada and I joined the Merchant Navy.

A few years later I was in a local pub and I spotted this gorgeous creature who was working as a waitress and was instantly besotted.
One of my mates addressed her by name when she served us and I knew then who this vision of lovelyness was.

One thing led to another and we were married 18 months later.

Two children and 33 years later she is still putting up with me.

Free Tip: I always introduce her as "My first Wife" (If you believe that, you'll believe anything).

At work. How boring compared to some of these posts. At least email had been invented by then (just), so it fair brightened up the work day.

I had been teaching for three years and later was out for a walk along the river. Bumped into an ex-pupil and we chatted as we walked along. Over the months we met occasionally for a coffee or a walk... and the rest, as they say, is history. Been married for 20 years now.

I met mine on the internet lol very scary. He lived 500 miles away, started speaking in the February 05 met for a weekend in March at a half way point for both of us and then moved down to live with him in the April, 3 years later I have moved him back to Caithness and getting married to him in 7 weeks time lol

That's lovely, ber219. Hope all goes well and that the day is especially wonderful.

feeling a bit depressed went to the local Irish pub chatted to a few friends and as the evening closed as I was standing at the bar a person reached across to pay her bill, apologised for interupting, she knew the person Who I was talking to, who then introduces her to me, and says she´s Married.... and I ses I`m going home too can I give you a lift... I´ver lived with her ever since and we even got married in Thurso....97
