Can someone tell me the difference between SD XD and flash memory cards.
I know that SD & XD are foe storing photos but what is the difference between them. I do not know what flash memory cards are for.

I have a Fugi film S5700 and am looking for a case for it does anyone know the best online site for camera accessories.

Essentially there is no difference beween the different types of memory cards - they all perform the same purpose i.e. to store your information (in this case pictures). They can all be classed as flash memory (i.e. flash memory and memory cards are really the same thing, although flash memory can also come in the form of a USB stick).

However they are different sizes as determined by the original manufacturer and are therefore not directly interchangeable. So an SD card will fit all devices which utilise the SD standard, whereas an xD will not, unless your device has the capacity for both.

You can get microSD (aka Transflash) which, through adapters, will fit into a miniSD or a standard SD slot, but they are just smaller versions of the same card.

So, as far as your Fuji S5700 goes, I believe it's only option is xD memory so you should not try and use any other type in it.

SD and XD are both types of flash memory cards.
