View Full Version : New Music
Following on from another thread, I'm always interested in hearing new music, whether it's brand new bands or whether it's just stuff I've not heard of before ie. Freedom Call etc. ;)
I'm sure I'm not alone in this.....sooooo recommendations, anything that you've heard recently that pushes your buttons?
Links to youtube or some other equivalent site would be good....here's your starter for ten:

Not a new band, not a new song, but you may not have heard it before.

They released their debut (sort of but not really) album yesterday. Absolutely fantastic record, it will be there or there abouts in the end of year top 10 albums of 2008 for sure.
Fantastic live as well.
I can't recommend these guys enough.

Roy Buchannan.................has to be the biggest blues god ever.
There's one lick he pulls off in a blues solo somewhere on the double album sweet dreams. If you listen to the lick & then take it forward again it is so obviously parisienne walkways....No kidding, I went over it & over it & the 8 or so notes that happens into Gary's track is stuck in the middle of a blues track cut in 1972....
I LOVE ROY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Danny Gatton aint bad either

I love his use of artifical / natural harmonics and that`s something I`m going to try to intergrate into my own playing - his talent is such that you think he`s playing really sloppy then out of nowhere comes a torrent of killer licks...his circle picking is quite something too...god bless ya Roy.

Great shout, absolutely brilliant stuff...I found a clip of Sweet Dreams there as well, playing it in the back gound right now. Roy Buchanan is out there on is own with this style.

This isnae new music. But a wee shout out I've gave out over the years to folk.I met a bloke's music when he released an album. The thing was all the singles that came out of this album did well, but the best song on vinyl was side two cos it was a 20 minute masterpiece. To me,it was his finest moment, ever since or before.Crises by Mike Oldfield.Excellent.Cannae you tube a video though, cos I don't think ye's are all in to snow skiing swans.:lol:
Dustin Kensrue (http://youtube.com/watch?v=72D49j0RcPs) He's the singer from a band called Thrice. He's released a solo album and his stuff is really cool. It's good chill out music I think.
Thrice (http://youtube.com/watch?v=tzkCoEyWObM) They've just released parts three and four of their new album. This is one of the songs from part four. They've really progressed with the last two albums.
