View Full Version : Psoriasis Treatments?
One of my mates suffers from psoriasis on his scalp...he's been applyind steroid cream for a while and it doesn't seem to alwas work.
Then he tried an expensive specialised shampoo....didn't work.
I heard today that olive oil can help? Does anyone know if this is true and any other natural/easy ways to help treat psoriasis?
this is a good place to start looking

I can say that having suffered it for 30+ years, nothing cures it, treatments ease it for a short while but never clear it up :( and the more stressed he gets about it the worse it will get!
I used to have it all over my head but it has calmed down a lot and I now only have one small patch in the nape of my neck

Believe it or not, good auld porridge oats are good for psoriasis, in fact any one who uses this method will have beautiful soft skin.
Get a sock or pop sock and put in a good handful or two of oats then tie a knot so they don't fall out. Let the water run through the sock when filling the bath. You can then use the sock to wash yourself all over, then massage it over your scalp. You don't need any soap or shampoo.
Then just rinse all over and pat yourself dry. I know this sounds messy and smelly but it's not, and I promise you you will have baby skin. I always have a container of oats in the bathroom much to the amusement of visitors.
I have had psoriasis since I was 5 years old so have tried everything out there and find oats the best treatment.

I swear by Polytar shampoo, which may be what you've indicated above, as it meeps mine at bay - however remaining as stress-free as possible is definately a big help.
My mum got stuff from her doctor called "beta mouse". apparently you put it on at night and wash of in the morning. she thinks its great.

Olive oil massaged in left on overnight then washed off properly does help:D
Cheers everyone for the suggestions. I will show him and get him to try them and then get back to you! In the meantime more suggestions are welcome.

Last year i had the worst outbreak of psorisas ever, my scalp was so bad it was painful to comb my hair. i got a mousse on prescription called CLARELUX and within a week my scalp was just about flake free, i swear by the stuff.
