Hi Orgers

I have condensation inside the double glazing in one of my living room windows and will therefore have to replace it. The window is approximately 180cm x 115cm and I have been quoted around £300 just for the double glazing and perhaps another £200 to install. Does anyone know if this is a reasonable quote for this kind of work, thanks.

"Many people believe that the problem with Condensation or Moisture in their windows means that the window seal has broken and needs to be replaced. This is False! The foggy (http://forum.caithness.org/go.php?url=http://www.0845glassman.com/fog.php) or condensation (http://forum.caithness.org/go.php?url=http://www.0845glassman.com/condensation.php) window problem really boils down to the inability of the window's desiccant material to absorb the moisture that naturally builds between thermal pane windows." (from their site)

Why not have a look here bagpuss:

Could you not claim this on your house insurance and just pay the excess? My son broke our patio door the day after we moved in and we did it that way as it was just so expensive. I know it will probably increase the cost of your insurance policy but it might still work out cheaper. Check with your insurance company.
