I've seen this type of gadget (http://www.ebuyer.com/product/119513) in use and it seems pretty good. You plug it into the headphone output of your iPod, select an FM frequency and tune your car radio into the same frequency. You then get your music playing through your car system.

The unit can even be powered from the car power socket (adaptor supplied) and, at just £5.99, it's a snip.

I use the Griffin iTrip Auto:

It's more expensive than the previous recommendation, but is quite neat.
Cable from the cigarette lighter socket to a tiny display, then a single cable to the iPod's dock connector. Sends signal to unused FM channel on the car radio.

Only downside is perhaps is that it IS iPod specific, so I'm now having to look for the equivalent for my (smart)phone.

What I forgot to say was that I got mine in Tesco, so look among the iPod accessories there (assuming your Tesco does have an electrical section).
