Well the Pc police have gone completely mad.

Western Isles council have given their kids their easter holidays from the 28th of March.Completely missing out Good friday and easter Monday which is the week before.
Even down in Glasgow, Langside college doesn't stop till the 7th of April for the official easter break and giving them a long weekend off over the easter holiday's.
Over here the kids stop on the 20th of March returning on the 8th of April.

Its impossible to book a week anywhere together at this rate.

When do your kids break up.

We get 4 days - Good Friday, the weekend and Easter Monday. Their Spring break occurs some two weeks later.

Mine get 20th March to 7th April as the Easter hol so ours do get Easter itself off. Sympathise, used to have a similar prob down south co-ordinating kids holidays and time off etc. You would think that they would coencide spring break with Easter, madness.

Here in Middlesbrough the long "Easter" holidays are from 07 April 2008 to 18 April 2008. The schools are off Good Friday and Easter Monday as Bank Holidays. The reason is that Easter weekend falls so early, it is to keep the terms a similar length.

Glasgow schools decided 3 or 4 years ago to have their easter holiday at a fixed time, rather than the seemingly random Easter holiday, which is calculated according to moon phases. Easter Sunday being the first Sunday after the first full moon after the vernal equinox ( not quite, but close enough)

So, it was nothing to do with being PC, just that it was a hell of a lot more practical.

Whether or not its Pc or not the Western Isles parents (religious ones) are very upset that their kids are expected to attend school at this religious time.
Me on the other hand would just like my kids to be on holiday at the same time, after all their both educated in Scotland.:(
