View Full Version : Wave Power
I absolutely love the rough and stormy sea... Thank goodness that I dont have to be on a boat at these conditions. It`s a different story at land though...

I have to agree, I love to watch the waves crashing over and love the rollers myself! I wouldn't much fancy being out there on a boat either :)

All these shots are fantastic, we were away at the beach over new year and there were awsome seas, unfortunately I was so pooped after a busy year that I couldn't seem to find the energy to go and take some photos. :~(
Looking at these one, I wish I had made more of an effort.
When I see some good waves I could stand and watch for hours...

Thats what Oh said but I still think it looks like a mermaid.
Great waves shots Raven, but I personnally prefer the ones in colour (Dunnet Head etc).:)

That sums up Caithness to me, so well, thank you isis
Isis,
I do like your "3 kinds of power" shot. I would have darkened the sky a bit though. The Caithness energy people will like this one.

Possible tagline for Isis' cracking pic "Past, Present & Future" :D
Love the one of Golspie , so dark and menacing.
Nothing like a wild sea to get us racing for the cameras.

Great shots guys! There are so really powerful shots! I love the idea of the "3 kinds of energy" it was a good shot to get them all in. Was it planned that way? I never really plan I just point and click

No, not clever enough to plan anything. I'm point & click too. I didn't think about it until I went to post the pic.

Wicker05 , love the 'harbour' photos. I live beside the sea and love pictures of it. Presume you worked some magic to get the red bollards so red?
Isis........love the pic of 3 energies. Allowed to copy??

I wouldn't have the nerve to get close enough to take some of the spectacular photos in this thread  - I'll stick to photographing stormy seas from a safe distance ....

Not sure what you mean by 'copy' but the answer is yes. You can use the pic i have taken and i don't think I can stop anyone going to the same spot and taking a better photo!
I do love the golspie photo and the duncansby one is impressive - on a day like that to walk to that point is beyond the cause.....
If you look closely you can see the Hamnavoe coming in...

Raven,
The layers in this image are wonderful, I presume you were using a long focal length lens here.
Great shot Raven, but where are the 4 surfers all strutting their stuff, one on each wave!! ;) (I can see a photoshop job here . . . . . .)
It always amazes me the wave frequency cycle (ie the seventh wave theory etc - must be a gravity/tide related issue!!)
@ North Light,
yep, it was done with a 400mm at 310mm
@ Deemac,
haha, yes, I could make one up like that, but that would go in the category "fun with photos" :-)
