My get up and go has went

How do I know when my youth is all spent?
Well my get up and go has got up and went.
But in spite of it all I'm able to grin,
When I think of where my get up has been.

Old age is golden, so I've heard it said,
But sometimes I wonder when I get to bed,
With my ear in a drawer and my teeth in a cup,
My eyes on the table until I wake up.

As sleep dims my eyes, I say to my self,
"Is there anything else I should lay on the shelf ?"
But I'm happy to say, as I close the door,
My friends are the same - perhaps even more !

When I was young my slippers were red,
I could kick my heels over my head.
But as I grew older my slippers were blue,
But I could dance the whole night through.

Now I am old, my slippers are black,
I walk to the store and puff my way back.
The reason I know, my youth is all spent,
Is my get up and go, has got up and went !

But I don't mind, when I think with a grin,
Of all the grand places my get up has been,
And since I've retired from life's competition,
My schedules, all scheduled (with complete repetition).

I get up in the morning and dust of my wits,
Pick up the paper and read the "obits",
If I see my name missing, I know I'm not dead,
So I eat a good breakfast, and go back to bed.

Brilliant ! That makes two of us !
I hope that "good breakfast" consisted of a large Bacon Sannie ?

Let's have some more Golach.

Where did Golach’s GO go boys?
Oh where did it go
I’ll ask aroon’ the toon boys
I’m sure that Jo will know.
They’d both been pals thigither
They’d raved it high and low
An trampled o’er the heather
Beneath the moonlicht’s glow.

Where did Golach’s GO go boys
Oh where did it go?
I’ll ask in every Bar boys
It’s there he’d spend his dough,
On every bonnie lassie
Bella, Maggie, Flo
Then arm in arm they wandered
To see a late night Show!

Where did Golach’s GO go boys
Oh where did it go?
I’ve asked them all in toon boys
But no one seems till know
He’d been worried aboot his hair boys
He said it stopped till grow
So that’s where he put his GO boys,
‘Neath a big Chapeau !

My get up and go's not quite gone yet
Even though in my ways I am rather set
Getting up in the morning was never a breeze
But once I've had coffee, I'm moving with ease.

My teeth are my own still, of that I am proud
My hearing is fine, so don't speak too loud!
Eyesight needs some help, just mild reading glasses
So what if I don't get wolf whistles and passes!

Don't have much grey hair yet, just one here and there
For that I am lucky, no need to despair
Skin's not too bad, my wrinkles are few
Getting shade in the sun was the right thing to do.

I'm the wrong side of fifty, by a couple of years
But I'm not quite ready to be called an old dear
I'll hold on to my get up, before it's all gone
Hope I've plenty of time, before my swan song!

My get up and go
Has been gone for a while
So all of these rhymes
Have sure made me smile!

Stronger specs I now use
To read, it is true,
But no help's yet needed
To hear or to chew

My long brunette locks
Are aided a bit
By that nice 'Wella' colour
I have to admit ;)

The wrong side of fifty
Can feel over the hill,
But we shouldn't accept that,
There's life in us still!

Our get up and go
May've been gone for a while
But us older Orgers
Show we have some style! :D
