I am needing to purchase a new television and was thinking about either a LCD or Plasma. Can anyone tell me how reliable they are and any other pro's & cons over conventional tv's.

According to an article in the "Which" magazine, LCD's are better in picture quality and reliability

Thanks for that. Hopefully will help us make up our minds!

But don't forget that with the limited resolution of broadcasting, you won't get a better picture than with a normal TV except for DVD and other higher res stuff.

So what kind of TV is best or does it really not matter? Also there is a lot of hype about needing HD Ready TV. Is this necessary?

Saw an LCD TV on QVC which had twin DTT Tuners and a Hard Drive but wonder if it's best to purchase these things separately rather than in one 'machine' ie TV and PVR?

I'm thinking of when analogue is switched off and wanting to record one digital channel whilst watching another. Hopefully though by the time analogue is switched off things will become cheaper and even more advanced?

It seems nowadays there are so many TV's etc that it gets really confusing.

Well the USA has been using HDTV for a while now, but we are only just getting it over here in a couple of years time. I am sticking to using a TV card in my PC for now, much eaiser for me!
