i just saw this on the news, and i think its a really good idea :)

Brilliant! That kills the idea of using it as a sheltered deep-water shipping terminal which would have provided a huge economic lift for the islands and provided much needed employment. What a complete waste of a fantastic resource.
I would think it also kills any idea of there ever being a tunnel built to link it to the mainland but who needs such useful links to benefit the Orcadians?

Still, at least the people forced to leave Orkney to find employment will be able to say, "There's nobody lives there now, but it is pretty!"

They have been talking about the Scapa development since the late 40s and nothing ever happened Not sure it ever would have anyway At least it will be looked after ""There's nobody lives there now, but it is pretty!" Aye It is a real shame just like most of the south moray firth and a heck of a lot of the west coast
