Wow nirofo,
You can feel the chill in the air and 'hear' the silence of the land muffled with snow.

Beautiful pics, guys! Nirofo, love that one of the hills of Hoy blanketed in snow. Brings back a lot of memories! :)

Both fantastic pics. Can you imagine if they were made into jigsaws, how frustrating it would be to do.....?[lol]
Sunsets are my favourite, bring them on guys.....:)
both these pics are good but the Canadian one is just brilliant.

There is a member on here who makes cross stitch kits as the wife is doing a caithness one just now, that last pic would be an incredible cross stitch,

This is gorgeous, the colours in the sky are fantastic and corgiman is correct , it would make a lovely cross stitch - could this be another string to your bow donsinc?! ;) thanks for the pic xx
I snapped this with my phone while leaving Tesco tonight, it developed into quite a spectacular sunset!

That is awsome, our sunsets have been very ordinary lately. Keep em coming.
Your pics are ace, Deemac
Deemac, these sunset pictures are magical, it looks like molten lava bubbling in the clouds. More please, anytime. Thank you.
Wowee, what brilliant pics Deemac!

Absolutely stunning, just when you think you've got the best shot, nature improves in itself.

It's coming soon - winter evening sunsets.
It looked good with its collection of photos, but when seen with the fantastic photos above, it just does not compare.
This is the weakest of the lot, I think it's a nice photo in its own right especially for a mobile phone pic, but doesn't have the resolution of a proper camera.
I'm looking forward to some superb winter sunsets!

Hello emb123, Nope you're wrong. This is potentially one of the best photos in this section. If only you had had a 'proper' camera with you there is no knowing just how this shot might have turned out. Go to the middle of the pic and look up at the cloud formation - excellent. You can even pick out the sunbeams. I bet with a bit of tweaking (I don't like to 'tweak' photos usually) you could really bring out those rays. There is a lack of clarity because of the resolution, but better to have this photo than none at all - it does show the great potential of the moment. I'd put this in a frame on my wall.
Only surpassed by deemac's 'skies of death and destruction' above - these would make good backgrounds for Quake or Unreal Tournament. Superbe.
Tweaked as suggested by psyberyeti. It is a little burnt out though.
emb123 - hope you don't mind!!:D (It is a nice shot)

Don't worry about the slight burn out, it adds to the overall effect anyway! Great image by the way.

Just to clarify - This is not my picture (I just made a few small adjustments)
emb123 should be congratulated for this image.

As I'm about to move, I'm really going to miss Farr Bay and these gorgeous sunsets. Will just have to find new things to photograph in Wick!

We've had a week of fantastic sunsets but each one very different.
Some great sunset photos in this thread.
Deemac I particularly like your ones from Tuesday 02 October 2007 looking towards Thurso - it's really dramatic.
Here's one of my favourite sunset photos. It was taken about 15 years ago.
http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj138/astroman_caithness/WaterySunset-StrathyPointSutherland.jpg
The photo was taken at Strathy Point with an ultrabasic point and click 35mm film camera (cost about £10), so to say I was pleasantly surprised by the result would be an understatement
Anyone got favourites they'd like to share?
Another one at Loch Eil this time ....
