Wick War Memorial

If anyone is passing by the Wick War Memorial some day would they have a little look to see if my grandfathers name ,Temple (Ted) Nicol, is still on there. I was told by my aunt that it mayhavef been removed. Story goes like this. Went to war 1914-18, missing presumed dead. Letter sent to his mother, Helen Nicol, stating fact. Name entered on War Memorial. Few years later he turned up at her door saying disappearance was due to loss of memory from contracting malaria and had been wandering around Europe since. Hence the assumption that his name was subsequently removed from memorial. If it was would there still be a little bit of an indentation as to where it previously was? :eek:
