Does anyone in Thurso use Acorn Broadband, I cannot get decent speeds with usual broadband providers as I'm still on copper wiring for the foreseeable future! Acorn offer better speeds and was wondering if anyone used them?

they wont have any magical router that can do any better than what you have already.
use https://www.broadbandcheck.co.uk/thurso with your postcode
what are you actually getting now?

give acorn a ring. i was chatting to their installer today and he says they might well be able to beat that speed as they have several new fibre linked wireless hubs now in that area.

Thanks for getting back to me, i'm not getting notified when i'm getting a response?
The BB checker is showing standard BB only, download as 25mb and upload as 1mb.
I did call Acorn and they can do d/l 30mb and u/l 15mb, someone going to come round and check it for me. :D

get stuff.
i know 2 people on their highspeed wireless now and its appears very reliable.
one is out in an area that will never get fibre for years as hardwire copper direct from an exchange that cant be upgraded and they'll be getting +20Mbs at a cheaper price than the 2Mb's via various phoneline providers, they are also using the free £1500? Govt grant scheme

magic well done.

i was speaking to the local rep of the firm that deals with acorn installations the other day and he says there are already granted proposals for 15 new wireless hubs in remote Caithness locations which should give fast reliable internet to +150 homes being installed this year.

they are a great little firm and typically installation id totally free once you get the gov't grant. but they deal with all of that for you.
