Can anyone repair or have a look at a Kindle - it wont take charge

is it recognising the charger is connected by the lightening symbol in the battery icon top right?

completely flat, does not recognise charger, have tried various different chargers, but all to no avail - HELP

even if the battery is failing after 30+ minutes of being on a PC it should get recognised as a device
to be honest this to me smacks of a fault with its socket.

did this suddenly happen oneday or has been playing up before the event.

please forgive me for asking what might appear to be pedantic useless questions but i'm trying to potentially save you money.

have you ever or did you ever, connect this fire regularly to a PC?

the socket could be failing/failed which would impact both PC connection & charging as it slowly failed...

but if PC connection was ok but charging via a charger got worse and worse, that would point to a failing battery.


for a 2018 device i would expect (unless habitually left on charge whilst in use and rarely used alone on its battery, regularly run the battery down) i would not expect the battery to be failing yet.

only connected to a pc recently, and rarely used without the charger being connected

then i would suggest as the battery has not been cycled it needs replacing.

on avg these cost <£50 on the various online online outlets, that also come with tools and there are youtube videos that detail the easy complete process.
crack it open with the tools provided.
unplug the old battery
plug in the new one.

it doesn't look like a diff task ...you could do this yourself.

it's worthy to note that any device that has a rechargeable battery should be regularly cycled not always used whilst connected to mains power.
thats the quickest way to kill any battery....not cycling it regularly.

You have been given good advice on your Kindle, the one about not keeping it on charge all the time is an important one, batteries need to run down and then get recharged.

I doubt that you have fixed it as putting in a new battery is expensive, while practical is not the only solution.
