crofting

hi folks just a wee moan , whats your views on crofting in caithness do you think its now over priced eg ordinary folk young folk whom would revive community bring new life new sprit cant because they dont have enough cash to buy well i think its all wrong this defeats the object when someone whom would croft and use the land cant because they dont have enough cash the legislation needs changed so young caithness folk can get a chance and not out bid on a croft because they dont have vast somes of cash

I agree with you, but do the young folk have the wherewithal to buy, maintain and survive as crofters? Perhaps what would be a compromise is that (assuming there are young people in suitable work) that those who buy the crofts and do them up rent them out to said young people at a reasonable rate oon the agreement that at the times of the year when the owners wish to holiday the tenants go elsewhere, perhaps on holiday themselves? Just a thought...:)
