While clearing out the house of a deceased relation recently I discovered a roll of 8mm film containing old footage (early 1960s) of a family wedding. I borrowed a projector from another relation who had some further 8mm films, some of which might have sections of footage of interest to me.

I would like to have the footage digitised to share with family members. I could try projecting it on to a screen and filming it with a camcorder, I am not sure how good this would be - have any of you done anything like this, does anyone have any tips on the best way to do this, please?

its a good way of doing it, though make sure the camera has a good bit rate and resolution
i often use an old white board and a sony x1000v in 4k.
might be overkill but you can always reduce the file afterwards.

there are websites that do this professionally for a small fee.

pretty sure i remember someone local does it too.
think there was an article in the groat about him , might even have been up on here too, but when i don't remember.
