There has been so much else going on that I failed to notice that new and quite significant changes have been made to the Highway Code. They came into effect on 29 January and they are far reaching in their effect. Just in case anyone else is unaware of the changes here are a couple of links.

For me, two things stand out:-
1. Motorists must now give way to pedestrians waiting to cross the street at a junction.
2. Motorists must give cyclists at least 1.5m (5 feet) clearance when overtaking at speeds of up to 30mph - and even more space when the car is travelling faster.
Maybe it's just me but I think more could have been done to publicise these changes. They are significant and change the priorities for all of us.
The second link is to a video, made by a barrister, who points out a number of issues which he thinks might lead to chaos.
