In my area of Canada we have windmills made by a European Company, but now two have quit working.
Reason......2 blades broke and the Company cannot afford to replace them.....
They are ‘in administration’! Bankrupt!

Reading that, you wonder why any further permission for wind farms is given. Why not wait until there is sufficient cabling to get the power where it's needed, or is it a vicious circle, no cable until enough wind farms? Meanwhile we (Far North customers) continue to pay the highest kwh rates in Britain. Bizarre situation!

It all seems a bit odd.

It's claimed this wind farm alone reduces co2 by 66,000 per year https://www.baywa-re.co.uk/en/case-studies/cases-in-the-uk-and-ireland/?f=wind&c=stroupster

I wonder if these wind farms that are not reducing co2 are used in official calculations on how green the country is, or whether 'dormant' wind farms are taken into account.

There was a recent article about excess electricity from wind turbines on Orkney being used to produce hydrogen for almost no cost. I wonder why this technology is not being used here. Highland council could convert most of it's fleet to run on cheaply produced hydrogen. Just a thought.

It seems Council planning departments don't take into account the fact that these wind farms will be idle and receive large constraint payments for NOT producing electricity.

Great idea on paper, but someone should really consider whether we need yet more wind farms sat doing nothing, apart from earning the owners large sums of cash!
