View Full Version : message board addiction
Can ayone tell me if there is an organisation that supports message board addictions? I'm neglecting my work my family and my hubby just cos I've got to sign on her every so often. Mostly I blame Drutt and jcc, but I've really got to stop before I loose everything! help!

I've found a book (http://www.azd.com/list/books/0471191590.html) that could help. Trouble is, could you log off long enough to read the book?
Anyway, your problem is nothing. I've got multiple board issues, with a different personality on each. :D
Mostly I blame Drutt and jcc, but I've really got to stop before I loose everything!
Moi?! You blame moi?! Huh!! I've never been so insulted in all my life. I'm an innocent party. This is defamation of character. I'll sue you for libel! ;)
Anyway, who on earth is jcc? Do you mean this person (http://www.caithness.org/phpBB/profile.php?mode=viewprofile&u=1284)?
help!
You and me both. [lol]
Yup, go to the Center for On-Line Addiction (http://www.netaddiction.com/). Their Welcome Message (http://www.netaddiction.com/welcome_message.htm) explains all.
Luckily I don't need help. I am only on here because I am failing miserably to get iTunes to rip Coldplay's X&Y.

I tried the internet addiction test
http://www.netaddiction.com/resources/internet_addiction_test.htm
My score was 79
20 - 49 points: You are an average on-line user. You may surf the Web a bit too long at times, but you have control over your usage.
50 -79 points: You are experiencing occasional or frequent problems because of the Internet. You should consider their full impact on your life.
80 - 100 points: Your Internet usage is causing significant problems in your life. You should evaluate the impact of the Internet on your life and address the problems directly caused by your Internet usage
I scored 50. mmm heading for trouble!

Just good solid will power did the trick for me. I was a semi-prolific poster during a dark dark period of my short life but have managed to calm it down to just the occational post.
Still got caithness.org/phpBB on the quick links though. Must do something about that.

Haha I did it for a laugh an did not expect to be too bad but low an behold i scored 53  Think i maby need to go too bed at a better time eh!!
Im worse at some times and not at others
this week im gonna try to be bettert han last week when i was terrible
one day at a time!
One thing that I will share with you all is that one day I was having dinner at home and my wife and we were having a normal conversation as you do over a meal. Then she said something that I didn't believe (I can't remember the actual topic) and I said in reply
"Can you substantiate your facts?" :confused
Well I have never ever said that to anyone before, how bizarre language to use in conversation?, I usually just say "Oh yeah? Really?". In short, I put it down to these message boards and making sure of my facts before posting messages.
Scary I know, from then on, if I see a falsehood on the boards I just let it go unchallenged .......most of the time.

There’s worse things we could be doing than sitting on messageboards. :)
As for the ‘debates’ sometimes I just can’t be bothered getting involved – usually makes good reading though!
i think those keyboard warriors who called me immature need to read carefully the next time and reply with thought, not jumping to ur old fashioned biased comments,
Keyboard Warriors i thought was quite suitable for some ppl [lol]
ooh im may be not as bad as i thought
