I have only used the Inverness - London sleeper twice (quite a few years ago) when travelling second class meant that passengers might have to share, the first time there wasn't anyone else in the cabin but the second time there was (a complete stranger), which seemed weird.
Removing the sharing option and the resulting price hike, might well deter some people from using a sleeper cabin.
