just had a chap knock at the door and give me a bag of sample briquettes of lignite coal. They're about 7" long and 2.5" wide and deep.
They work out a bit cheaper than coal (£8.95 / 50 kg) and as the advertising literature points out, you don't get a bag with loads of small pieces bits and stuff that's about the right consistitency for baking a loaf with.
I did a bit of hunting and lignite is apparently the lowest grade of coal however the claim is that there is much less smoke and much less waste.
Has anyone tried them, and if anyone has, do they give out as much heat as coal ?
I'm open to recommendations about this - I've never come across it before.
thanks for reading :)
found a link for the exact stuff here...
