My understanding is that "town gas" was stopped many many years ago when North Sea Gas became available.

The term 'town gas ' refers to the system not the content. Just asking if the Town Gas system runs as far as Mount Vernon or what. I lived opposite the Gas works for over twenty years ,watched the building close and make way for the coop shop . Thanks

Yes it does run as far as Mount Vernon, I lived therefor a while and had town gas.
