View Full Version : Oil find near Gatwick
It looks like a significant oil field has been discovered in the south of England. Up to 15 billion barrels of oil could be recoverable. Now that is more than what Sir Ian Wood said was left in the North sea immediately before the independence referendum [lol]

Damn does that mean the English will not need the Scottish remnants in the north sea.?
It doesn't look that way unless they're being greedy.

If the reports of the oil field are correct and it's as easily recoverable as the gent on sky news claimed this morning. It would make a huge difference to the economics of the UK. I always view these reports with a degree of scepticism until they come to fruition but considering the extra wealth that could flow into UK coffers it would certainly remove the dependence on scottish oil that is so frequently used as a bargaining chip.
