I'm looking to hire a car to drive from Thurso to Inverness for the day but i've never done this before. How would I go about this?

Europcar hire from wick airport and you have the option of dropping it off in Inverness if you're just looking for one way, or return it to the airport if you're coming back up the road. Reasonable rates
