I wonder if there are Robertsons left in Thurso who are related to this Ann Robertson who, it would seem, had a son John b. 1857 out of wedlock as there is no father registered on the birth registration.
John must have left Thurso quite young (20's) to make his fortune in the world as he came to Dunedin New Zealand about 1877 where he found a position in the new Mosgiel Woollen Mills.
He met and married an Ayrshire lass, named Elizabeth Dickie Mackie in 1878 and had a son Thomas Mackie Robertson in 1881.
Thomas married my Aunt in 1833 and they had one daughter, Miriam b. 1946.
I am trying to trace the family for her.
Katherine.
