Does anyone know if there is a local forum or group for private residential landlords ?

I have recently had a very bad experience and would like to warn others - before looking at starting up something it would be good to check that there wasn't something already there?

Didn't you ask for references from previous landlords first? seems to be the thing to do these days.

You can have a written reference and phone up to verify the information given, but you are depending on the honesty of the person giving the reference. Which in this case turned out to be complete lies

Our son is in rented accommodation in Glasgow and his agent checks the property every 3 months. Only 24hours notice is given for these inspections and it does keep the tenants on their toes. Why not do spot checks yourself or if you are not in area ask someone else to do it for you.
