Driver also accused of drink/drug offence

AN Orkney driver is alleged to have driven 200 metres on the wrong side of a main road in Caithness while under the influence of drink.
Christopher Carton Billing, 57, denies driving dangerously and while unfit through drink or drugs.
He is accused of committing the offences on the A99 between Wick and Bower, on May 13.
The dangerous driving charge alleges that Billing of 2 Petticoat Lane, Orphir, drove round a bend on the wrong side of the road, in George Street, Wick, repeatedly crossed over the centre line near the Tesco supermarket, on the outskirts of the town, overtook on a blind bend near Reiss, and then drove approximtely 200 metres on the wrong side of the road at Bower.
Billing is further charged with having driven while unfit through drink or drugs at Bower.
He was not present in court-his plea was tendered by solicitor Fiona MacDonald. The case, at Wick Sheriff Court, was continued to August 12 when Sheriff Andrew Berry will hear progress in defence case preparation.
