Then I would have thought that another member of your family would be able to fill you in rather than a public internet forum. Or if you are a relative then you just phone the ward. Caught out.

Caught out.I don't really think its any of your business as to why the question has been asked, but anyway it has been answered now so no need for rudeness.
I tried that but its hard when the relative hasn't told the family they are in hospital & when a member of the immediate family has phoned the hospital the person doesn't want to speak to them. So rather than imagining all kinds of things 4oo miles away I thought I would seek some answers from friendly orgers.............
Thanks though.

Thanks to baileys Bhoy & Alice in Bunderland. But funnily enough I feel a bit worse than I did before I posted this post. Thanks though.

No it's not. Bignold is a surgical ward, Rosebank is the medical ward.

Oh dear chin up, im sure you are just letting your imagination run away with you
Right enough it might help if certain people were a little more sympathetic.

the person doesn't want to speak to them
Just speak to the ward staff then. Keep digging.
No it's not. Bignold is a surgical ward, Rosebank is the medical ward.
And so of course comes the mis-information.

Just speak to the ward staff then.that wont work! one word - CONFIDENTIALITY

that wont work! one word - CONFIDENTIALITY
Of course it will if you are a relative - which is what the original poster claimed they were.
"Of course it will if you are a relative - which is what the original poster claimed they were" CONFIDENTIALITY is just that confidential if the person is over 16 they can choose not to let anyoneknow why they are in hospital and what treatment they are getting, If the patient requests for a third person not to be told then hospital staff have to go along with there wishs . So the answer to DUNNERKNOWE is no the hospital can not tell the op why the person is in hospital ect by law

no the hospital can not tell the op why the person is in hospital ect by lawThat's not what the original poster wanted to know - they wanted to know what sort of ward the Bignold Ward is - a phone call to the hospital would have told them that.

Or a quick consultation of the patient handbook at http://www.nhshighland.scot.nhs.uk/Services/Documents/Caithness%20General%20Hospital%20Patients%20Handbo ok.pdf and findable through Google....

Of course it will if you are a relative - which is what the original poster claimed they were.staff can not issue information to just any relative, thats why next of kin is in place so that staff can deal with them and then they can pass the information on. however if a patient states that "so and so" be told or not, as the case may be, then those wishes are respected

thats why next of kin is in place so that staff can deal with them and then they can pass the information on.
Clearly in this case then the family didn't want the original poster to know the detail, hence the fishing on here.
