I've just discovered that one of Maureen Materi's photos shows Adam McIntosh, the blacksmith at Dunbeath in a photo also containing Alexander McKay (in front of the smithy shop at Bridgend Dunbeath). I am sure this is the McIntosh family I was trying to trace given that Donald McINtosh started that blacksmith shop and he did have a son Adam (aged 6 in 1871 census) of the right sort of age for the photo which looks like early 1900s. Any info out there on what the connection might have been with the McKay family or why Alexander was photographed there?? (see photo posted by Mareen in April 2004)
