One of the giant african land snails is retracted into its shell...no membrane over the opening aperture.
It smells ......but more than a normal snail smell, but , not too bad at the moment.
How do you dispose/make sure its really dead as you cannot release them in the wild.
Thought about boiling it and putting it in the wheelie bin......but need to do a full burial ritual for the kids.....but that gets me on the making sure its definately dead point (dont think the kids would let me boil their dead pet somehow or let me bung it in the freezer overnight)...

How to remove the insides of a dead snail would be handy....
Mr Bugs said to the wee "owner" that the shells can be kept and she wants too keep the shell....
Said snail, which is obviously dead by now, is sitting in the shower in a basin of sterilising fluid...as im full of the flu and not up to trying to do anything with it..
Just hoping my energy returns (awake for about 2 hrs before flaking out again)before my sense of smell......but shouldnt be too bad considering its sitting in milton fluid!
How do I remove the remains from the shell?? with ease...lack of effort ??

could you not just use a needle like you do with whelks, or a crochet hook.
