I am researching a Peter Thomson(a possible marriage could be Catherine Bruce but not confirmed). Peter had a son William Thomson born about 1796 who went on to become a ships master and lived in Wick Caithness. ( if Catherine was his mother the birth was in Olrig Caithness)
Peter was a writer or writers clerk working in the early 1800s up till at least 1810 in Glasgow.
He has become a giant brick wall in my family history research which I would so love to solve.
His son William was drowned at sea in 1843.
Any help greatly appreciated
