Going off at a slight tangent - but relevant, if anyone likes Fairytale in New York but isn't really much of a Pogues follower - check out Dirty Old Town by the Pogues.

Up there with best and written by Ewan Macoll - Kirsty's father. One of the best folk musicians if the past God knows how many decades.

wasnt the biggest fan of the fairytale of new york but the past couple of years its really grown on me and i love it now.

That is Elvis jamming Blue Christmas, live, yes; however to achieve the full effect, I suggest listening to the version he recorded on his Xmas album, complete with gospel singers.

What year was the Fairytale of New York released? Seems to have been around for ever but I guess it must be sometime during the 70s.
