Anyone watch the British Comedy Awards 2006 on ITV 3 at 21.00 hours last night..???

Taken from funny.co.uk:-

A run down of this year's results from last night (13th December 2006)which sees a surprise lack of Gervais and only a hint of Lucas and Walliams.
Best TV Comedy Actor: Went to Gervais' other half, Stephen Merchant, for his role of idiotic agent in Extras (http://www.funny.co.uk/tv-radio-film-comedy/art_58-3620-TV-Review-Extras.html). He beat Gervais and jointly nominated Mitchell and Webb for Peep Show.
Best TV Comedy Actress: After last year's disappointment, Catherine Tate bagged this one for The Catherine Tate Special defeating Katherine Parkinson (The IT Crowd (http://www.funny.co.uk/tv-radio-film-comedy/art_58-3867-The-IT-Crowd.html)) and (Green Wing).
Best Personality: Harry Hill for Harry Hill's Burp, which is widely regarded as mediocre pap and must be a slap in the face for overshadowed nominee Paul Merton. And it least it stopped non-, Ant & Dec, from bagging another 'comedy' award.
Best Male Newcomer: The controversially funny Russell Brand took it home for Russell Brand's Got Issues. He beat co-nominated Alan Carr and Justin Lee Collins (The Friday Night Project) and Kevin Bishop (Star Stories).
Best Female Comedy Newcomer: Gah! Charlotte Church! What? Real comedians Katherine (The IT Crowd) and Miranda Hart (Hyperdrive) were snubbed.
Best New TV Comedy: Channel 4's Star Stories snatched the award from the grasping clutches of Suburban Shootout and That Mitchell and Webb Look (which is about as funny as haemorrhoids IMO).
Best TV Comedy: Peep Show beat EXTRAS (http://www.funny.co.uk/tv-radio-film-comedy/art_58-3620-TV-Review-Extras.html)!!! I repeat Extras (http://www.funny.co.uk/tv-radio-film-comedy/art_58-3620-TV-Review-Extras.html) did NOT win an award! Also in the running was The Thick of It.
Best Comedy Entertainment Programme: Harry Hill seems to be romping the awards this year as his TV Burp won this one and defied glory from Ant and Dec's Christmas Takeaway and Have I Got News for You.
Outstanding Contribution to Entertainment: Went to Chris Tarrant. His TV career has stretched from anarchic Tiswas to Millionaire. And no dead boys in his swimming pool.
Writers Guild of Great Britain Ronnie Barker Award: Sacha Baron Cohen, Dan Mazer, Anthony Hines, Peter Baynham were awarded this for Borat (http://www.funny.co.uk/tv-radio-film-comedy/art_58-4268-Film-Review-Borat-Cultural-Learnings-of-America-for-Make-Benefit-Glorious-Nation-of-Kazakhstan.html). Cohen accepted the award in person. No one knew who he was.
Best Comedy Film: Quite rightly went to Wallace & Gromit in The Curse of the Were-Rabbit (http://www.funny.co.uk/tv-radio-film-comedy/art_58-3768-Film-Review-Wallace-and-Gromit-in-The-Curse-of-the-WereRabbit.html) despite having been released fourteen months ago. The most excellent Little Miss Sunshine (http://www.funny.co.uk/tv-radio-film-comedy/art_58-4244-Film-Review-Little-Miss-Sunshine.html) missed out, as did the most average Confetti.
Best International Comedy Show: What? No Simpsons? Curb Your Enthusiasm took it, beating Everybody Hates Chris (http://www.funny.co.uk/tv-radio-film-comedy/art_58-3938-TV-Everybody-Hates-Chris.html) and The Office: An American Workplace.
Best Live Stand-Up Tour: Went to the controversially funny Jimmy Carr for his Gag Reflex tour. He beat Al Murray, Lee Evans (http://www.funny.co.uk/stand-up-comedy/art_64-2520-Lee-Evans-2005-Tour.html), Lee Mack (http://www.funny.co.uk/stand-up-comedy/art_62-729-Lee-Mack.html), Ross Noble (http://www.funny.co.uk/stand-up-comedy/art_62-1464-Ross-Noble.html) and Russell Brand.
Best Stage Comedy: And bringing up the rear are Walliams and Lucas for Little Britain (http://www.funny.co.uk/books-and-writers/art_178-3791-Little-Britain-Live.html) at least doing their best to instil a degree of normalcy to the proceedings. They beat Robin Ince's Book Club, The League of Gentlemen Are Behind You, The Mighty Boosh and The Two Faces of Mitchell and Webb.
Gervais couldn't quite keep out of the event altogether and sent a video-link message in, saying, "A British comedy award, quite a prize. Not to me, I've won American ones."
"Enjoy the night. I'm off to have dinner with Jerry Seinfeld and Ben Stiller."

Half of the programmes/winners I had never heard of. Love Ant & Dec but they win constantly...reckon others should get a chance although Harry Hill did beat them a couple of times.

I thought the grautuitous use of the 'f' word totally uncalled for. I'm no prude and use it myself on a regular basis when appropriate but many of these foul mouthed 'celebrities' need to get a grip on broadcast telly. Some of the fools in the audience seemed to think it funny. Just another sign of declining standards and more 'role model' behaviour for the thickos on the street, on the bus, etc. etc.
