I was wondering how many other people have come across multiple births in early records and are able to say what the survival rate was.

I have a set of triplets born in 1828 all of whom survived. The details are as follows...

Hester Nicolson; Janet Nicolson; John Nicolson - born 16 December 1828, Hollandmaik, Dunnet; baptised 17 December 1828

Hester lived until 17 May 1910
Janet lived until 13 August 1882
John lived until 23 July 1882

Twins:-

Kenneth Miller and Sinclair Miller born circa 1841, Wick

Kenneth lived until after 1891, last known address 11 Squires Street, Liverpool
Sinclair lived until 15 June 1878

Just curious as to who else has multiple births in their family that can shed some light on survival rates in early times.

Steven

Hi Steven,

As we both know the triplets were the children of Donald Nicolson & Christian Calder. They also had twins later on in 1835 - Helen, who died 19 December 1918, aged 83, and Catherine, who must have died soon after birth as she was not in the 1841 census. Donald was 82 and Christian was 76 when they died so their genes must have been quite healthy.
