Does anyone know of anywhere local that I can pick/collect fresh dulse? Not sure if it is available in Caithness but if it is Id like to try some!
Thank you :)

Should be plenty on the lower shoreline around the county.

So is it obvious which it is? Are there other plants that look like it or just the one ribbon type weed? Dont want to eat the wrong one then decide it is horrible.

There is not many red seaweeds that looks like dulse so it is fairly obvious. Best thing to do would be to buy a seashore guide or try here: http://www.marlin.ac.uk/phylumdetails.php?phylum=2400

It's probably the reddest seaweed you'll see. Slightly translucent. Tends to grow in small bunches. Sort of crunchy texture when you chew it.
