If you want to do it on a PC, try a device like the Belkin system:

I have no experience of using that for this purpose: I use one at work to capture video from a PTZ (pan-tilt-zoom) camera to feed into Skype.
That should give the opportunity to record your material, add titles, etc.
Personally I copy using a VHS recorder connected to a DVD recorder.
Or if you have original camcorder tapes, connect the camcorder to the DVD recorder to prevent making a copy of a copy.
Much easier if the DVD recorder also has a hard disk as you can play the old video and record it to the hard disk, edit, and then "dub" from the hard disk onto DVD.
Try and make the copy using the highest quality video connection:
Best if available on both camcorder and DVD recorder is Firewire (also called 1384, etc: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IEEE_1394 ) or USB
Then SCART
S-Video (also requires audio connection): 4-pin video connection.
Composite video (usually a yellow "phono" connector) which also requires separate audio cabling. Some camcorders have special cables with yellow video and white and red stereo audio phono connectors.
NB - if the videos are commercial videos they may well be copy-protected and the DVD recorder may refuse to copy them.
Been using it for a few years now.real easy to use

I would be able to convert the videos to DVDs for you if you wish.
Please PM with details.
