If it spends more than 30 minutes in a freezer it may suffer from hypothermia. Keep your Turkey well fed, in a warm place, and it'll survive longer than six months.

The date should be on the bird Fran.Or should that be the bird should be on the date.

Heres a wee story.

Davidston Mains,Edinburgh.Big Safeway store.Probably a Morrisons or a Somerfield now.Wee auld wifie in one of the aisles, hell of a sweat on her brow. The security guard goes up to her and asks if shes okay.

"I'm fine",she says.

The security guard is worried though, thinks she might be too hot.So tells her to take off her hat to cool down.

"I'm fine",she says.

Suddenly she faints, her hat falls off and low and behold she hadnae been sweating, the frozen turkey she had tried to nick was defrosting wi the heat of her heid.True story!!!!!!

A frozen turkey can be stored in a home freezer set at 0°F. It should be cooked within one year for best quality.

I've got one that's been in the freezer since last Christmas. It's dated until April 2007.

No need to throw it out Fran. Frozen turkey can be kept indefinitely in a freezer set at 0 F or below. However, it should be cooked within one year for best quality. Defrosting is the step where problems can arise, if not done properly.

Last week I defrosted and cooked a turkey we got in Tesco last Christmas, dated May 2007. Delicious!
