Thanks for the links. It is indeed a jungle:)

I was wondering who has the best reputation etc, etc.

Has anyone had any experiences?

My parents got a stair lift fitted due to serious health problems. They were able to get this through the social work dept in wick. If your father in law has health issues maybe this dept could advise you on which company they feel are the best for the needs of the individual. He may even be eligible to get one via dept. All in all it was approx 6 wks after the stairs was looked at, that the lift was fitted. The lift gets serviced yearly as well. Never had any issues with the company either. Contact details are 01955 605040 for social dept.

Got lots of brochures from all stairlift companies. This in turn lead them to phoning us promising the earth and sending engineers up to measure, price etc. The ONLY firm which really listened to what we asked for and needed was Acorn. The rest decided they knew best (probably based on dearest price) so didn't deal with the again.
