I have a semi tame female blackbird who sits on the fence and chucks when she wants her treats.
Yesterday I had just given her some suet pellets with insects and the crumbs and some fruit from a cake which she was busily pecking up.
She was so engrossed that she did not notice a dastardly rear guard offensive.
A chaffinch ran up behind her, tweaked her tail feathers and whilst she leapt startled to one side, the cheeky chaffinch then proceeded to take the choicest bits and run off with them.
If I had not witnessed the rear guard action I would never have believed it.
