quick question:
anyone put their children horse riding in wick/lyth area?
if so what age can they start?
and what do lessons cost nowadays?
thinking of putting my 3yrd old daughter
can highly recommend ashleigh at old wick.. shes a star! on facebook as well.. not sure of the age, but she isnt dear at all.
I use Lyth, I'm sure she has 3yr olds, 1/2hour £8.50. Natalie is so good with the bairns.
I would recommend Natalie at Lyth, she is great with the kids. not sure of the age but most don't take them until 4
Natalie at lyth is fab! Not sure what age she takes but I think a 3year old goes.

is half an hour the standard lesson length? doesnt seem long?
We use Ashleigh at Oldwick and she is brilliant with the bairns they all love her, my little girl is 3, 4 in a few weeks and started in October.

how long and how much is a lesson there sjr014?
At Natalie's the older ones do 1hr lessons the younger one's seem to all do an 1/2 hr lesson. My 6yr old finds 1/2 hr long enough.

ah right nlp that makes more sense, thought it seemed short if thats what everyone did!
so next question...
what all do you need to supply yourself?
all you need is a pair of jodphurs and wellies.. (the kind with a slight heel)AND a rain proof jacket and gloves this time of year! *laughs* the school will supply you with a hat to use
my kids just wear leggings and wellies, plus a warm jacket
true, leggings or jogging bottoms will work just as well!
If you're going to invest in anything - get a pair of johdpur boots. Wellies aren't really safe and little short boots get in the way less too.
My 5 year old goes to Ashleigh Campbell, at Oldwick. She goes on a Saturday morning, 9 til 11am. They do grooming, at least an hours riding, then some theory stuff, quizzes, fun/play time. It costs £15. My daughter loves it! PLease PM me if you want her phone number.

I would wait til she sees if she likes e riding first b4 you invest in riding gear! not cheap unless you get it on here or ebay! Theres to many folk out there dress there bairns up to the nines only for them to dislike it a few months later!! There are certain restrictions on what ages can be left at a yard to help out regarding insurance. 1/2 is only a guide line but little ones get bored easily and most instructors will recommend this.
