My heart is broken in two, for yesterday (my birthday of all days), my beautiful Maddy girl left us. She was running with the other dogs, fell in a ditch and broke her back. There was nothing that could be done for her, and she had to be let go. Even though it was the right thing, it doesn't make it any easier.

She was only 4 years old, and I only got two years with her. Life is so unfair. She had so much to give the world, and she is already missed by so many.

How can this beautiful girl not be in the world anymore?

oh Sarah, how heartbreaking for you......but you gave Maddy two wonderful years so remember those and that the circumstances leading to her untimely death were her running free and happy, as she will now on the other side of the bridge.

So, so sorry for you Sarah, what a heartbreak for you and the other dogs, You must be utterly devastated. It is always such a big worry with a running dog that they will have an accident but you have to let them run and explore. It is what they live to do. Run free Maddy xoxoxo

Oh my goodness Sarah !! :(

Here was me wishing you a "Happy Birthday" when at the very same time you were suffering the loss of Maddy !! :~(

Please accept my condolences on the loss of such a beautiful dog! As others have already said, she very obviously had such a happy two years with you and your family, although far too short. Must be so very, very difficult to do just now; but try to take comfort from the fact she didn't suffer and was doing something she loved, running free with her "friends" !

Maddy,
but later and thinking back, those two years will become a treasure for you cherish in your heart.

Thanks everyone, its the guilt that is the worst. A lot of 'what ifs'. Why did I choose to walk them there that day? I have 4 regular places I go for walks, and I chose that place that day. It really isn't fair.

And now I feel bad for Lucy. I got Lucy to keep Maddy company. We did have three dogs, but Todd is 11, and Maddy was 4, he wouldn't play with her. So I adopted Lucy, and Maddy died :( So Lucy still has Todd for company, but no one to play with.

Please, please don't feel quilty as this was just a terrible freak accident which you could have done nothing to avoid and the 'what ifs' will just torment you hun.

It is cruel that the beautiful Maddy was taken away from you at such a young age and I send you my heartfelt condolences.

I'd highly recommend the homeopathic remedy Ignatia for yourself and your other doggies. It might just take the edge off the terrible grief and shock.

Maddy lives on and will be reunited with you one day. Of that I am certain.

I am happy to say I have been in touch with KWK9 rescue, and a little Lurcher pup is reserved for me, until she is well enough to come and join our family hopefully next week. It's very exciting.

This is very good news, and although Maddy cannot be replaced, I am sure the little Lurcher will bring to you great joy and happiness too.

Aw I am so glad you are getting wee Daisy. :) She will have such a wonderful home with you and although, as Commore said, she won't replace the gorgeous Maddy she will help heal the pain you are all feeling. xxx

I'm sure she will help for sure. I've never had a pup before, but hopefully having the older two will keep her in line. :) Now I need to go and buy things for her!

Well done for being brave enough to share your love with another doggie in need. I've been searching rehoming websites since my Lurcher boy went missing and it's shocking the number of Lurchers out there needing a home. They are such loving dogs and so much fun to have around. Best wishes and lots of love to you and your brood ;)

I'm so sorry to hear your boy is still not home. At least in my situation, I know what happened and know its over for Maddy. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he will get back to you!

Poor Sarah, I am so sorry for you and feel so sad, what a beautiful dog she was and so happy, you gave her a happy life and now she is in heaven playing with other dogs. They say a dogs spirit never leaves you. thinking of you xx
