Just bought a new pc and need to save photos on the old laptop to a disc. They are in a lot of different folders, and I would like to store them on as few discs as possible. What kind of discs do I need?

Depends on the total size of all the photos, if less than 700MB then a CD-R will do otherwise you will need either a DVD-R or a DVD+R depending on the capabilities of your burner.
