does everyone know the meaning behind the saying 'woe be tide'.....i havent heard it for a long time but walking past a couple today the woman turned to the guy and said 'woe be tide if she........' i didnt hear what "she" had done and wasnt interested but the saying stuck in my head and i have never known the real meaning of the saying...many thanks.

thanks orkneycadian that was helpfull......my parents used the saying a lot and so have i but never knew the proper meaning so thank you for clearing that up for me..
