This might be of interest to Techies.
For a week I have been unable to connect to the internet in the evenings. OK during the day when speedcheck showed normal. Fiddled about with cables and connections. Service provider checked line and was unable to identify problem. Despair!

My light bulb moment? This evening I noticed that a low-energy light bulb in another part of the house was flickering very slightly. And it is only switched on in the evenings. Could that be the cause? I removed the bulb and connectivity was restored. Problem solved!

Presumably the faulty bulb caused emissions which were picked up by my wireless router - although my desktop is connected to the router by cable.

Is this a known issue? And how many low level or intermittent connectivity problems might be due to dodgy light bulbs?

all energy efficient 'tube' flouresent light bulbs have an oscillator in them
when the bulb begins to fail, one of the reasons is the osc.

else there would be everlasting products with no profit for making them.
typically the first signs are infact the inability of infra red remotes [tv.dvd.] to work.

as it progresses in goes further up the light spectrum to wi-fi frequencies.

so you are correct.
