Ban Christmas.. Not new year tho!!! :D

No dont ban christmas it is just one day a year. Ban all the hype and build up, I hate how all the shops are playing christmas Jingles starting at this time of year. I like to get my presents for people online that saves me having to traipse around all the busy shops playing the same old rubbish

There are some good pictures of the latest aurora displays at www.space.com. These give some idea of the look of it for those of us too far south, or those in the north who don't like to go outside in the cold.

It depends on why you ask. My obvious answer would be because of my general genius and my advanced psychic abilities.

But more truthfully, there are several sites which give quite authoritative information, try

http://www.dan.sp-agency.ca/www/rtoval.htm
http://www.dcs.lancs.ac.uk/iono/aurorawatch/

The second one also provides an email service with advanced warnings.

when did ou see them? we got the email warning us of a red alert, looked outside and it was cloudy :( but just above the cloud line we could see a lightening of the sky so assumed it was behind the clouds......

If anyone is interested I have quite a few pictures of the Aurora on my website at http://www.hookeslaw.com/caithness.htm . Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the smaller pics to see the full size version.

Dagnammit! Missed 'em again. In all our trips to Caithness this is the one spectacle we have never witnessed despite it being top of our must see list.
Oh well folks if any one has any influence could you please arrange for them to be flourescing next time we're up.
